Winter is the perfect time to curl up on the couch and bypass the bitter cold, but with all the streaming services out there it can be hard to know what to watch. The next time you can't decide what to stream, check out one of these lesser known shows.

Terrace House (Netflix)

I had the great pleasure of binging Terrace House: Boys & Girls in the City last winter and it was life changing. The basic pitch is Real World in Japan, but it's so much more than that while also staying super simple. It's a reality show that shows off Japanese culture, while people have the calmest arguments, work hard towards their life goals and go on dates. It also has a panel of Japanese celebrities that chime in between scenes to discuss what just happened. I would recommend watching Boys & Girls in the City, then Opening New Doors and if you're still hungry for more try Aloha State, which is arguable not as magically. There are hundreds of episodes available to last you through the winter.

Schitt's Creek (Netflix)

I always describe this show as Arrested Development if that show was actually funny. (Sorry Arrested Development fans.) What I mean by that is that both are about rich dysfunctional families that get knocked down a peg. In Schitt's Creek, the Rose family has to move to a town in middle of nowhere. They are used to the finer things in life and now they find themselves living in a motel. All the characters are hilarious but my personal favorites and David and Moira. His outfit and her wigs, it's a perfect match!

Younger (Hulu)

If you're looking for a sexy, hilarious comedy try Younger. The basic premise is that a woman in her 40s (Sutton Foster, Broadway royalty) pretends to be younger to land a job at a publishing company. Of course shenanigans ensue as she tries to keep her secret from her coworkers, one of which is played by Hilary Duff. There are five wonderful seasons out there waiting for you.

Killing Eve (Hulu)

If an hour long thriller is more your thing, check out Killing Eve. The first season premiered this year and earned Sandra Oh an Emmy nom. It's about a security services operative (Sandra Oh) who is convinced that a series of murders were committed by a female assassin, but no one believes her. She starts hunting her, and the assassin (Jodie Comer) finds out and starts coming after her. It's a nonstop thrill ride and when you're not holding your breathe, you're laughing out loud. These two actresses together are pure magic. The music selection is also ace.

Wynonna Earp (Netflix)

If you're looking for a supernatural thriller to warm the cold nights with demons, vampires, angels and witches, Wynonna Earp is the show for you. It's about a family, the Earp's, who are cursed to have to hunt demons aka revenants. The current heir is badass town drunk, Wynona Earp. She has a whole gang that teams up to fight evil each episode whether it be the big bad of the day, or of the season. It's not just an interesting story, but it also has great representation, and that's just one of the reasons fans have flocked to it. The setting is best described as the wild west in winter, which is another reason it's the perfect cold weather binge.
