Terrace House Tokyo 2019-2020 P1: E3 "Dreamed of Her"

It’s been another week, which means it’s time for another episode of Terrace House to sink into. Let’s get it!

As predicted, there were a few dates this episode, but surprisingly, it was the little in between moments that were giving me life. Things started off strong with Kenny and Kaori discussing graphic design styles and they were looking real cozy. There’s just something about bonding over a shared talent or passion that is so sweet. Even though this isn’t one of the planned dates (yet) I’m interested to see if anything sparks between these two. At the very least they could create some cool art together.

We also got a lot of Ruka and Risako this episode, which left me with mixed feelings. Risako is so infatuated with him, but Ruka is just kinda meh to me. It probably doesn’t help that he’s only 20. I died when Ryota called him “simply dumb," and when he said his shyness will be old by week four. I also decided the swoopy bangs have to go. Let the forehead out! So their date was cute and Risako taking care of him when he was sick was cute, but he’s still gonna go keep his options open with Haruka I guess. I don’t see that ending well for him, especially when he's going around telling Ruka that he had a dream about her.

Another (better) date this episode was Kaori and Shohei, while I wasn’t feeling any chemistry, they did seem like good friends hanging out. I love that Kaori confessed to crying the first week because she was so overwhelmed having to live with five other people. #relatable They just chatted and got a little tipsy, and it was sweet.

We’re still waiting for Haruka and Kenny’s date, because Haruka was too busy golfing and hauling luggage around, but hopefully next episode. Somehow how her sass radiated whenever she was in the room. For some reason I got the distinct feeling like she thought Ruka was lying about being sick. She was like, well what’s his temperature aka SHOW ME THE RECEIPTS.

Highlights:

- The panel was on their A-game this week esp. when they were teasing Ruka about “his libido." Can’t unread that.

- Shohei smirking courtside while Ruka tried to make a move on Haruka.

- Risako playing with that toy with parkour-level concentration.

- Everyone badgering Ruka to hear if anything happened on his date with Risako, and finding out they each got their own popcorn. Rookie mistake.

It’ll be interesting to see what happens next week. Will Haruka fall of Ruka? Will Ruka keep flirting with Risako? Are Kenny and Haruka the real match waiting to be made? We’ll find out next time on Terrace House!
