Konbanwa!

It’s time to discuss the next Terrace House Tokyo 2019-2020 episode. The housemates are getting comfy, meals are being cooked and the drama is building. Let’s dive in!

Right off the bat, Risako is coming in hot by accusing Kenny of not being open enough. He takes it in stride and mentions that the guys already told him the same thing. I do love that to start the conversation she first asked if he gets angry easily. Like making sure he wouldn’t fly off the handle for telling him’s closed off. Interesting approach.

There were also a lot of great cooking/bonding scenes this episode. The most memorable was probably Kenny giving Haruka a guitar lesson. The whole short pinky thing was great and I loved that Kaori said it was such a cute interaction that she couldn't handle being in the same room where it was happening. It’s also worth noting that by the end of the episode three dates have been set: Kenny and Haruka are going to lunch and a concert, Risako and Ruka are going to a movie and making dinner, and Shohei and Kaori are getting a meal together. I hope we get all three dates soon. I’m excited to see if any of them have chemistry. So far I'm not sure about any of them.

The climax of the episode is of course the “tempura incident.” I think every season an issue like this has come up revolving around people’s goals and career paths. This time we have Haruka really pushing the fact that everyone should have a singular focus with one clear path, while Shohei believes it’s cool to spread out your interests and have a variety of skills. While I see Shohei’s point, he does a very poor job defending himself, stating that if he ate tempura every day he would get sick of it. Ehhh not really the same thing, Shohei. It ends with a stare down from Haruka, and I have a feeling she’ll be causing more drama in the near future.

Highlights:

- Shohei saying that eventually everyone with the mindset that people can only have passion will die off. Yikes!

- The panel making a parkour joke about Risako scaling that wall to find love.

- Ruka being unable to even look at Risako while planning their date, and then picking a movie she wasn’t even interested in. Rookie mistake, my dude.

- Finding out that Haruka loves drag racing cars and playing golf. I want love her for her sass, but her interests are borrrring.

As always I’m excited to see what happens next. There are some dates in our future, and maybe more drama involving Haruka.
