Bad Day Remedies

Some days in your life are just going to be shitty. That’s just the way it is. Without the dumb days, you wouldn’t be able to have great days, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t still suck. Today has been one of those craptastic days so I’m making this list of sad day remedies, to help myself (and maybe you) get through the rough ones.
Stay Busy
This is what I’m trying to do by writing. By staying busy and occupying my mind with something else, I’m pushing that bad thing out, or at least trying to. This might look different for everyone, but for me it’s getting coffee with a friend, writing or cleaning.
Listen To Music
Whether you want to wallow in some sad songs or curve your mood with happy songs, music is a good place to go. My favorite sad songs come from artists like Julien Baker, Phoebe Bridgers, Lucy Dacus and Sufjan Stevens. Happy songs are most often BTS, Carly Rae Jepsen or other high energy pop tunes.

Watch Some Old Favs
When I’m upset I really like to watch a comforting show and for me that’s most often The O.C., Happy Endings or Gilmore Girls. Something about watching shows from my teen/college years never falls to cheer me up or at least transport me to simpler times.
Get Out
Usually I’m a total homebody. My idea of a perfect weekend is sitting at home reading, playing Stardew Valley or watching K-dramas. When something’s plaguing my mind, I like to get out of the house, whether it’s visiting a friend, hitting the gym or treating myself to a movie.
Leave The Day Behind
So you had a bad day. It was trash garbage, but you made it through. When you wake up the next day, start fresh. Try not to let yourself stay wallowing. Every day is a new opportunity for good things to happen, but you have to be open to letting it happen. That's all I got. Here's hoping the good days outweigh those shit ones.
